Newest Computer Virus Bin Laden Death Video, FBI Warns

WASHINGTON—The FBI is warning computer users against unsolicited emails purporting to show photos or videos of the killing of Osama bin Laden.
The bureau says they may contain a virus that can steal personal identification information or infect a computer. In a statement Tuesday, the bureau cautioned that such malicious software can even be passed along unknowingly by a friend or family member.
The FBI urged the public to adjust privacy settings on social networking sites to make it more difficult for people to post material.

If you are a Facebook user, you may have noticed posts on your account asking you to select a link to see pictures of Bin Laden's dead body. Computer experts say do not click the links because they may contain viruses harmful to your computer.

Lynchburg Computer Systems says often people are hungry to be the first to get news and as a result, they get scammed.

"Facebook has recently been notorious for virus activity. When you share information with other friends on Facebook, not necessarily viewing Facebook what when you exchange information, you're opening up links, things like that, the bad guys is what we call them out there are posting stuff all over the place," Rick Jones, President Lynchburg Computer Systems, said.
